Indian MMA: From being a restaurant waiter to Fighting in the Super Fight League – The story of Syed Imran

IF EVERYTHING FALLS INTO PLACE, Syed Imran will make his Super Fight League debut next week. Imran is currently scheduled to represent defending champions Sher-E-Punjab in the league and while the debut itself is something worth celebrating, Imran’s backstory deserves some attention as well.

Syed will make his SFL debut next week

From serving as a waiter in a coffee shop to the biggest MMA league in India, the journey has been an inspirational one. Despite the lack of a stable financial situation in his family, Imran decided to follow his dream when he came across Nuur Muhammad Bhutia of Taponomics. Imran soon started training with Nuur and ended up getting a fight in BOOM MMA through the promotion’s president Ratul Mukherjee.

Imran also fought in BOOM’s affiliated promotion Shyaptoh before finally landing a deal with the Super Fight League. SFL had held selection trials during BOOM’s last event and picked up Imran during the process.

Another major name that transitioned from BOOM to Super Fight League under the management of Ratul was BOOM Bantamweight champion Ateet Kelvin Gupta. The Bantamweight star has already fought twice in the league.

A trainer at Taponomics in his free time, Imran will be looking to make a statement and tell his story to the world when he steps into the Ozone next week.
