I-League 2017-18: Aizawl FC sack head coach and assistant coach
AIZWAL FC HAVE PARTED WAYS with their head coach Paulo Menezes and assistant coach Izan Martin Andres.
The shock move has happened today, soon after the team returned from Manipur following their 0-0 draw with NEROCA. The club currently stands 6th in the I-League points table; somewhat underwhleming considering they are the defending champions.
The development also comes close on the heels of Aizawl FC being fined Rs 3 lakhs for fan violence against the referee following their home match against Mohun Bagan; something that both Menezes and Martin were accused of inciting. Both were showcaused by the AIFF Disciplinary Committee following the match commissioner's report.
The club has made the decision official on social media and TFG has learned that among possible replacements being considered is former club head coach Jahar Das who last season led the club to the Federation Cup final and currently heads the youth development arm of the club.
