His Illustrious past

Arsenal has found a true superstar in Aubameyang. His transfer had cost the Gunners £56 million, a sum that pales in comparison to the value he adds to the team. His Career at Borussia Dortmund saw him win the DFL-Supercup twice and the DFB-Pokal last season. His time at Dortmund saw him combine with the likes of Marco Reus and Mario Gotze. The Gabonese striker scored 141 goals throughout his career in the Bundesliga. He was also one of the top goal-scorers of the season. He scored 25 goals in the 2015-16 Bundesliga season second only to Lewandoski. A season later he ended up being the top scorer of the Bundesliga, scoring 31 goals. His time at Dortmund is truly worthy of praise.

Skills and Ability

Aubameyang’s skill as a player was on full display in his debut match against Everton. Although he wasn’t in peak condition in terms of physical fitness, he continued to be a threat to the opposition’s defense. His deadly pace has achieved legendary status. The Gabonese star was once recorded running a 30m sprint in 3.7 seconds, a speed that is often seen among Olympic Sprinters. He is often compared to Usain Bolt by commentators.

His Expected Role at Arsenal

Wenger would be hoping to use Aubameyang’s blistering pace to the team's advantage. His pace would be ideal for Arsenal’s style of counter-attacks. The striker would be expected to combine with his former Dortmund teammate Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Mesut Ozil. Aubameyang’s preference for short passes and rapid counterattacks make him the perfect striker to pass the ball to. His ability to combine with Mkhitaryan and Ozil was evident in his debut match. His ability to finish an intelligent through-ball from Mkhitaryan, by chipping it over the keeper is just a small hint of what one must expect to come. The player quoted saying "Is there more to come from me? I think so" in a post-match interview.

Arsenal’s Future

Aubameyang has immense potential; he has the drive to succeed and has the skills to back it up. Aubameyang’s skill and pace can turn him into Arsenal’s next Theirry Henry. With a team that compliments his skills and a manager who has firm faith in him, he is all set to become an Arsenal legend.

Aubameyang will be facing tremendous expectations by Arsenal fans when the Gunners meet Tottenham later this week. His goal against Everton will make fans only demand more from him. Wenger would be hoping for a win against the Spurs as it would be crucial if he hopes to break into the top 4. Aubameyang’s performance next match will decide the rest of Arsenal's season.
