IPL 2018: Shane Warne likely to join Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming edition

AUSSIE GREAT Shane Warne is likely to join Rajasthan Royals’ coaching staff ahead of the upcoming season. The legendary leggie recently took to his official Twitter handle to share that will be revealing the details related to his IPL move, this week.

Warne is known to have played the role of a captain as well as a coach when he led the Rajasthan side to a victory in the first edition of the cash-rich tournament. After finishing in the bottom half of the league for three consecutive seasons, Warne retired from professional cricket in 2011. However, four years after bidding goodbye to the IPL, the Aussie veteran revealed that he missed the action in India and also hinted that he would not turn away from joining Rajasthan as a mentor or a coach.

"I miss being part of the IPL. I had made some great friendships. The atmosphere was great and the Indian support was brilliant. It's an amazing tournament and it allows you to share knowledge with different players. Maybe I will be back with the Royals or somebody else in the future."

This year, the Rajasthan Royals are making a comeback in the IPL after serving two years of suspension over a corruption and a match-fixing scandal. They have also assembled a formidable squad after retaining Steve Smith. With the presence of the Aussie skipper, the Jaipur-based franchise could be the most favoured destination for Warne, to return as a coach, mentor or a consultant.
