Pakistan youth system needs a mentor like Rahul Dravid, says Ramiz Raja

PAKISTAN GREAT Ramiz Raja has showered praise on the Indian U-19 team for displaying impressive temperament in the ongoing World Cup in New Zealand.

The men in blue recently thrashed Pakistan by 203-runs to qualify for the finals of the mega event. Ramiz lamented the loss and credited legendary batsman and India U-19 coach Rahul Dravid for grooming the young bunch effectively. As reported by PTI, he said,

"I am impressed with the temperament shown by some of the Indian players. They have a fine find in Shubman Gill and others. Rahul Dravid deserves lot of credit for preparing and grooming them so effectively."

Ramiz said that having someone like Dravid as their coach and mentor was a big boost for the Indian youngsters.

"They learn such a lot from him not just about cricket but about everything else. How to conduct oneself, how to develop game sense and so on."

The 55-year-old called for a total revamp of the Pakistan youth system. He also added that the youngsters would do good if they had a mentor like Dravid.

"The way our players fielded and batted it wasn't pleasant to watch. I think in Pakistan we need a total revamp of our youth cricket system. The Cricket Board needs to pay a lot more attention to youth cricket. We need to have give someone charge for a proper time period like India has done with Rahul Dravid."
