Shaun Marsh

Shaun Marsh was head and shoulders above everybody in the first season of the IPL in 2008. The Aussie batsman ended up amassing more than 600 runs in the inaugural edition. Although, the southpaw has never been able to replicate a similar performance in the IPL, he remained an intergral part of Punjab. Despite his injury issues and dip in form, Marsh is back in the Australian mix and should be a part of the IPL as well for the 11th season.

2017: 9 matches, 264 runs, avg 33, sr 136
2016: 6 matches, 159 runs, avg 31, sr 118
2015: 4 matches, 65 runs, avg 20, sr 139

Backdoor entry: Although it is difficult to see Marsh going back to KXIP, we still feel a few teams will be served well if they could rope in the Aussie batsman. Kolkata Knight Riders have heavily banked on Chris Lynn, and while that could work for them, he is also prone to abrupt injuries. Therefore, having Marsh as a backup option wouldn't be a bad move. Also, the Rajasthan Royals can also benefit if they can absorb the southpaw. Remember, Smith is likely to lead RR and it would only make sense for Marsh to play under his permanent Aussie skipper.
