IT WAS two days of frenetic, high-octane IPL players' auction in Bangalore. Close to 200 players were sold for a whopping 431.17cr. From marquee internationals, Indian superstars to unknown names from the domestic scene were pouched by the franchises.
Looking back, it was perhaps the most satisfying and complete auction after the inaugural season in 2008. In fact, it wouldn't be an overstatement to add that the 2018 auction was evenly contested.
As we have seen over the years, the IPL auction is always full of surprises. Like R Ashwin rightly tweeted, "It's like a casino." While there was largely some sensible bidding, we also witnessed some questionable punting. Worse, we also got some shockers along the way as some big guns found no takers.
But be that as it may, all is not lost. We know there is still time left before we head into the 11th season of the IPL.
