Saina has been struggling since 2016 Olympics due to the injury and surgery she had to undergo. But she has been showing promise with her performance at later tournaments and in PBL. 2018 seems to have started on a good note for her with this performance and she would surely cherish this moment.
She will next face 4th seed Thai shuttler Intanon.
On the other side, men's doubles duo of Satwiksairaj/Chirag Shetty defeated 4th seeds Mads Kolding/Petersen 23-21, 15-21, 21-19 to claim a spot in the semis. Their next opponents are top seeds in form pair Marcus Gideon/ Kevin Sukamuljo.
