ISL 2017-18: We're a fighting team & will push to get into top 4, says MCFC coach Guimaraes

MUMBAI CITY FC take on Bengaluru FC at home on Thursday (18th January). They will want to avenge their first match defeat against Bengaluru at Kanteerava.

Coach Alexandre Guimaraes at the pre-match press conference, said,

"In terms of the team development, I continue to see the team growing. Sometimes, they don't match with the results and now we've to stand up to give our best. We're a fighting team and will push to get into Top 4."

Talking about the opponents, he said,

"BFC deserved the win in our previous game, we've been building our style of play since then to compete against other teams. We've developed a lot and the performances are showing on the field too."

"I've said to the players to look forward after the previous encounter. We've to keep moving and focus on tomorrow's game."

He also stressed upon getting an AFC Cup berth,

"Playing AFC Cup is one of our objectives. The players would love to play in that tournament but to be there we've to get in the Top 4 and then think about it."

Talking about some of the players in the squad, he said,

"From my experience, India has got plenty of top-class strikers & that's really impressed me a lot. In our case, Balwant has done well for us in the league. Davinder Singh is a tough defender with acceleration & speed, he's got minutes under his belt and that's good for a rookie player."

He confirms there are no injuries,

"No injury concerns in our team. Raju Gaikwad is fit after missing the previous game & we'll decide about it tomorrow."
