ISL 2017-18: When you've got quality in the team, it's easier to get back to the top of the table, says BFC coach Roca

BENGALURU FC take on Mumbai City on Thursday (18th January) at the Mumbai Football Arena. BFC suffered a 0-2 defeat against Delhi Dynamos in their previous outing and talking about the same, coach Albert Roca at the pre-match press conference said,

"Our performance against Delhi was probably our worst of the season so far. I hope that's the last time we play like that."

Talking about playing in Mumbai, he said,

"A lot of things change from the last time in Mumbai. The pitch is different, the opposition is different, we have to be ready for that. We're having a good season, but it's not over yet. We have to keep working hard because all the teams are playing well and hope to make it to the final stages. We are looking for a balance in defence and in attack and a balance in results as well. We need to be consistent and improve our winning form."

Further talking about keeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, he said,

"Gurpreet is a top quality keeper. He's the best goalkeeper in India, so it's a challenge to react to a defeat. He's trying to do his best and we're sure about that."

Sharing his thoughts about the season as a whole,

"Sometimes it seems like a tough week, but things change over a week. When you have quality in your team, it's easier to get back to the top of the table. When the difference between the teams are not too much, everyone's fighting hard. We are not Barcelona or Manchester City, we are a team looking to perform at our best. It has not been easy until now and I don't think it would be right to expect it to be easy going forward. It makes you weak to think it will be easy going forward. It's a short tournament, so be aware of the challenge that every game brings. We need to be positive and do the right things because I know we have quality."

BFC will also have extra work at hand as they will be once again seen at the AFC Cup.

"The AFC Cup is not going to be much of an issue. As a coach, I want to give my players a fair chance of playing by rotating the squad. Bengaluru FC, since I've been here, has been a great team. We've won titles, and it's always been up to us to do our best. Believe me, inconsistency is a challenge. Every time we play well, we seem to lose a game. When we're having a tough patch, we always turn it around."
