ISL 2017-18: Coach Portugal delighted with win after hard work in training

ONLY THE SECOND WIN of the season for Delhi Dynamos FC as they beat Bengaluru FC yesterday. A full-three points coming after the 9 matches felt good to their coach as well.

Miguel Angel Portugal expressed his joy saying,

“I am very happy,”

“Against Mumbai and Chennai also, we played very well and lost. But today, we played well and won. I am very happy for the players. All week we have been working and today we won,” he shared.

On the partnership of Kalu Uche and Chhangte upfront,

“Kalu is experienced and Chhangte is younger,” Portugal stated. “So, it’s a good combination. It’s a good idea.”

With just 7 points, the playoff possibility seemed a tough ask but Portugal insisted he would take one game at a time,

“Now I am not thinking about the possibility of making the playoffs,” he revealed.

“Now, I only tell my players to take it one match at a time.”

Delhi scored two goals but there were there were opportunities to score even more. On that front, Portugal shared,

“The only thing I know is training,” he said. “If you miss opportunities, you must work harder in training. This is the only solution I know.”

The Delhi coach threw light on Vinit Rai’s performance saying

“For me, Vinit is in a good condition for the balance of the team. That’s why he is mainly there. He played well. Maybe it’s possible for him to play forward. He is very young,” Portugal concluded.
