IPL 2018: Delhi Daredevils appoint Ricky Ponting as head coach
AUSSIE GREAT Ricky Ponting has been named as the new head coach of Delhi Daredevils for the upcoming edition. Chief Executive of Delhi Daredevils Hemant Dua made an announcement on Twitter.
The former Aussie skipper will take over from Paddy Upton whose contract has not been renewed by the franchise. Delhi has also lost the services of India A coach Rahul Dravid, who was forced to step down due to BCCI’s conflict of interest.
Ponting is known to have been a part of coaching unit for Mumbai Indians when they lifted the trophy in 2015. He coached for another season before the franchise opted to let go of the Aussie in 2017.
Earlier, the 43-year-old was a part of Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians’ team.
