Match report: Coro and Keane the goal scorers in a late kick off at the Salt Late stadium

A VERY DELAYED KICK OFF saw the game between ATK and FC Goa beginning close to quarter to 11 pm. A delayed arrival from FC Goa after having all kinds of flight troubles in the past two days saw them heading straight to the stadium.

Ali conceded a free kick in the third minute after the ball hit his hand when he tried to defend a cross from the right side of the box. The free kick taken was sent in the box where Robbie Keane in the 6 yard box was waiting to score his second goal of the tournament with a free header.

Goa equalised in controversial circumstances when a foul that appeared to have been going ATK’s way, had the referee play advantage to FC Goa who were on the counter attack. Coro went to to side step away from Debjit and score the equaliser.

Prabir Das was already on a yellow card when he committed a foul on Brandon at the edge of the box. The referee did not spot that awarded a free kick outside the box without any card. At half time, Prabir Das was replaced.

The second half was a slow game. FC Goa in the mid of the half create tremendous pressure but failed to get a goal for their efforts. Taylor played a brilliant one-touch pass to Robbie Keane’s run in the box but Kattimani cut it just before he got there.

Some heated exchanges of words began between players and the referee immediately calmed the players and situation. Deep in the game, Coro had made a good run to turn away from the defenders along the by-line and set up Mandaar to an open goal. Mandaar side footed his effort way off the goal. A game that was delayed by over two hours had two goals in it and both teams will rue missing chances.
