PBL 2017: MATCH REPORT -- AMD Smash Masters beat Hyderabad Hunters 4-3; Prannoy extends winning run to 9

AHMEDABAD SMASH MASTERS registered their second win in their debut season of PBL as they defeated Hyderabad Hunters 4-3 in Delhi on Friday.

The mixed doubles duo of Reginald Lee/Kamilla Rytter Juhl gave their side the opening points by beating Satwiksairaj/Pia Zebadiah. It was a gritty comeback from the Masters' pair after being down in the first game to win the match 4-15, 15-12, 15-8.

The points were soon levelled by Hunters' men's singles shuttler Lee Hyun Il as he defeated Sourabh Verma 15-9, 15-11.

Fans could not witness a Tai Tzu Ying vs Carolina Marin as the latter was rested due to her illness. The Taiwanese shuttler was up against youngster Rasika Raje and the World No. 1 dominated the match. Tai won it with ease 15-5, 15-6. The lead was now doubled to 2-1 and HS Prannoy had a good chance of sealing the tie for his team as he was playing the trump match.

And once again, he didn't disappoint as he trumped Sai Praneeth 15-10, 15-8 to get those two crucial points in the bag. With this win he extended his undefeated run to 9 matches, a new record in PBL.

The final game between the men's doubles was the trump for the Hunters and the duo of Markis Kido/Yoo Yeon Seong had a chance of cutting down the point difference for their side. They were up against Kidambi Nandagopal/Reginald. And the experience duo didn't disappoint as they emerged victorious to take the match 15-14, 15-11 to give their team two important points.

In the end, the tie went in favour of Masters with a 4-3 win.
