PBL 2017: MATCH REPORT -- Mumbai overcome Delhi 4-1; losing trump cost latter the tie

MUMBAI ROCKETS put forth their best performance as they begin their campaign with a win over Delhi Dashers. The former cancelled out Delhi's trump to win the tie 4-1.

The first two matches went in favour of Mumbai with wins from men's doubles duo Lee Yong Dae/Tan Boon Heong defeating Ivan Sozonov/Vladimir Ivanov 14-15, 15-14, 15-10. Then youngster Sameer Verma trumped Wing Ki Wong Vincent 15-11, 15-12. This was the trump match of Delhi and losing it cost them too much.

As their points went in minus but soon later women's singles shuttler Sung Ji Hyun got her team Delhi back to positive as she defeated Beiwen Zhang 12-15, 15-14, 15-9.

And then finally Delhi opened up their points as Tian Houwei defeated Son Wan Ho 13-15, 15-13, 15-9 but it was too late as the damage was already done.

The last match between the mixed doubles was the trump for Mumbai and Gabriela Stoeva/Lee Yong Dae trumped their opponents Arathi Sara Sunil/ Pranaav Jerry Chopra 15-11, 15-9 to give their team a clinical win over their opponents.

Delhi Dashers will hoping for doubles specialist Ashwini Ponnappa to join them soon as she had her personal commitments (wedding bells).
