PBL 2017: MATCH REPORT -- Hyderabad's dominant performance saw them emerge winners vs NE Warriors
HYDERABAD HUNTERS hunted down their opponents North Eastern Warriors 5-2 in their opening tie of PBL season 3 in Guwahati on Sunday.
The men's doubles duo of Markis Kido/Yoo Yeon Seong gave the Hunters the opening points by beating Kim Gi Jung/Shin Baek Cheol 15-10, 13-15, 15-13.
Then the Spaniard Carolina Marin won her trump match that put her team Hunters in a comfortable lead of 3-0. She defeated Michelle Li 15-9, 15-11.
NE Warriors' men's singles star Ajay Jayaram too couldn't do much as he lost to Lee Hyun Il 15-13, 11-15, 15-6. This put Warriors under immense pressure in front of their home fans. This win by Lee Hyun furthered the lead and sealed the tie for Hunters as they had a 4-0 advantage.
The only points that Warriors could take from the tie was a win by men's singles shuttler Wang Tzu Wei who won his trump match. While the mixed doubles too saw Hunters take home the points as Pia Zebadiah /Satwiksairaj emerged winners 15-8, 15-11 over their opponents.
Debutants NE Warriors need to rethink their strategy and get back stronger in their upcoming matches.
