Adidas announces 10 qualifying names of the schools in FC Bayern Youth Cup India
adidas announces the names of ten winning schools who will compete against each other at the National finals of the fifth edition of FC Bayern Youth Cup India 2017-18 to be held in February, 2018 at the BASE in New Delhi.
The city legs of this under-16, seven-a-side inter-school football tournament kicked-off in the end of November and witnessed elite school teams from New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, North-East and Kolkata compete against each other, give budding footballers a platform to showcase their talent.
The winning team from the National Finals shall win the right to participate in the FC Bayern Youth Cup World Finals at the Allianz Arena in Munich in May 2018. adidas’ objective behind this initiative is to encourage all the players to give their best till the final match. The winning school team will also get a chance to watch a Bundesliga match at the iconic stadium.
Talking about the tournament, Hrishikesh Shende, Director Football, adidas India, said,
“Football as a sport has grown tremendously in India over the last decade, and with the recent FIFA U-17 World Cup tournament held in India, the sport is poised for further growth in terms of participation and interest. adidas, as a global leader in football, has been constantly taking initiatives to nurture football in India and introduce new avenues to inspire the youth to partake in the sport. FC Bayern Youth Cup is one of the key initiatives that reaffirm the brand’s constant efforts to promote and nurture grassroots football in India. It serves as an opportunity for young players to compete with, and test their skills in an international environment. The past four seasons of the tournament has received great response from the kids and schools, and we have been able to spot some excellent talent from across the country. This year, we had participation from 180 schools, and the top-12 city qualifiers shall battle it out in the National Finals. The winning school team from the tournament will participate at the World Finals and I am sure this will encourage the school teams to put in their best to secure a truly memorable experience that awaits them in Munich.”

The chance to win a trip to Munich and take part in a five-day training camp with FC Bayern is unique. The young players from India will meet FC Bayern 1st team players, visit the last Bundesliga match and play the final tournament just one day after in the Allianz Arena.”
The tournament has been supported by Lufthansa, the official carrier of FC Bayern Munich since 2004, who once again joins hands as exclusive travel partner. The winning team will be flown to Munich by Lufthansa German Airlines.
