MATCH REPORT: Emana converted from the spot to end Chennaiyin’s three-match winning run

RAFA for Mumbai City FC and RAFI for had the best chances to give their respective sides at least a goal. In the end it was a one goal win courtesy of none of these name.

Few of the better chances in the first half fell to Chennaiyin’s Mohammed Rafi. A cross from Jude had Rafi in the right place and time but he could not get hold on his shot. On another occasion, Rafi’s brought out a save from Amrinder just before the half time break.

Rafa Jorda did not impress with his poor finishing on either sides of the half.

Rafi did not have the best of nights as he could not finish a through ball from Mihelic found after having just the keeper to beat. The deadlock was broken when Balwant Singh was brought at the edge of the box and the referee awarded a penalty instead of a free kick outside the box.

Emana read Karanjit Singh’s movement and calmly slotted the ball home to get the lead in the game.

Chennaiyin looked to add pressure to get themselves level. Jorda, who was wasteful in the evening and had two similar opportunities and none were impressive. Emana’s penalty goal was the only goal of the night and Mumbai City kept all three home points.
