IPL 2018: Mumbai Indians part ways with Jonty Rhodes; hire James Pammet

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS Mumbai Indians announced that they have parted ways with their long-time fielding coach Jonty Rhodes.

MI also mentioned that they have roped in New Zealand’s James Pamment as a replacement for the South African stalwart. It is learnt that the reason behind Rhodes’ departure is that he wants to spend some more time with his personal business ventures.

Rhodes, who had been working with Mumbai franchise for the past nine seasons, has been the part of their immense success. In a media release by MI, Akash Ambani spoke about Rhodes’ contribution and stated,

“Rhodes has been a pillar of strength and energy in Mumbai Indians. His contribution cannot be valued in words. We respect his decision and wish him the best for the future. He will always be a part of Mumbai Indians family for life.”

Speaking about Pammet’s appointment, he further added,

“We are happy to introduce James Pamment to the MI Paltan [MI Fan Army]. He is an experienced coach at the international level having worked with New Zealand Cricket as fielding specialist and development. What impressed us was the way Pamment had coached Northern Districts in Champions League T20 in 2014, and to be honest, his sides’ fielding unit was one of the best Mumbai Indians had ever faced.”
