Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni request BCCI to put uncapped players under salary cap

VIRAT KOHLI and MS Dhoni have suggested the BCCI to put a salary cap for uncapped players as well.

The IPL 10 saw uncapped players like T Natrajan and Cariappa for INR 3 crore and
INR 2.4 crore. Kohli and Dhoni believe that a salary cap for the first-class players will motivate young aspirants to play Ranji and come up the ranks. As reported by Indian Express, a senior official working close to the development revealed,

“A classic case was Cariappa, who was bought by KKR for Rs 2.4 crore in 2015. He had played a few games in the Karnataka Premier League but hadn’t played for the Karnataka Ranji side. It really sends a wrong message to all First-Class players. On one side we have some who play non-stop Ranji Trophy games and earn only 10-12 lakh in an entire season, and here comes a boy who is getting so much. Kohli and Dhoni felt it wasn’t right and BCCI should keep a salary cap on these uncapped players.”

It is known that Dhoni, who currently enjoying his time off the Test format, has been quite vocal about increasing salaries of domestic players ever since he took up captaincy.
