I-League 2017-18 MATCH REPORT -- Lajong make it a streak with dominant win over Churchill

SHILLONG LAJONG ABSOLUTELY DOMINATED PROCEEDINGS against Churchill Brothers to clinch their second win on the trot at home.

The Reds started well, keeping the ball and passing it amongst themselves as they slowly established their grip on the game. The club did not allow the visitors to settle down and frustrated them by cutting off their supply line from midfield up.

In the first half an hour, Lajong had close to 70% possession and they created multiple chances. They claimed the lead when Redeem Tlang converted, and although Churchill Brothers tried to make a quick comeback, they were unable to make much of an impact.

Early in the second half the visitors did try to re-claim lost ground but Lajong resorted to their old strategy of starving them out of possession. And the Churchill Brothers midfield never looked strong enough to take the game to the Lajong defence.

Kynshi, who had come on as a substitute for Koffi, got the second goal for Shillong Lajong, and despite creating a chance or two CBFC were unable to make a comeback in the game.

With a rather easy 2-0 win, Shillong Lajong have established themselves as one of the teams to watch out for this season. They are now at the top of the league table with 6 points from 2 matches, while Churchill Brothers have had to endure a sombre loss at the start of their campaign.
