This 25 year old Argentine striker has already made it known that he will not stay a hidden gem much longer with his eye-catching performance in NEUFC's pre-season friendlies. Forged at the River Plate academy in Buenos Aires, Velez spent his early senior years at Argentine and Spanish lower leagues before finding his touch at Singapore's S-League club Warriors FC. Upon arrival in 2014 he immediately became a goal-scoring sensation, and helped Warriors to the S-League title. He went on to play 38 matches for the Warriors and scored 29 goals. His incessant thirst for goal combined with a knack of clockwork finishing makes him a very useful player to have up front. When he is not driving past defenders into the penalty box with the ball glued to his foot, he uses his precise first touch to distribute the ball among teammates, significantly speeding up his team's pace of the game. It remains to be seen whether manager Cesar Farias will use him from the outset or introduce him in the second half as a pair of incredibly fresh legs.
