Fantasy Cricket: Dream 11 tips for ASHES, Australia vs England, first Test in Brisbane

Overview

Australia will take on England in the first Test of the Ashes series tomorrow in Brisbane. Historically the Gabba wicket has always helped the quickies, but the batsmen too have been able to play their shots as the ball comes on nicely. Weather-wise, there could be showers throughout the course of the game.

As far as team combination goes, both teams have already announced their playing 11 and it will be interesting to see how the debutants in Cameron Bancroft and the rest go.

While both teams have a formidable seam bowling line-up, the batting appears wobbly. Plenty will depend on how Smith and Warner go about their business for the hosts. On the other hand, the English will be relying on Joe Root and Alastair Cook.

Talking about Warner, he is suffering from a stiff neck and S Marsh too has a wobbly back. Glenn Maxwell has been called in as a replacement for the duo. However, as per the reports, it appears that Warner will open the innings.

Given the fantasy pricing for this game, a few calculated calls have to be made.

Probable 11

AUS- Warner, Bancroft, Smith, Khawaja, Handscomb, Starc, Paine, Cummins, Lyon, Hazlewood

ENG- Cook, Stoneman, Root, Vince, Bairstow, M Ali, Malan, Woakes, Broad, Anderson, Ball

Important players for the game

Broad- Has always enjoyed bowling in Australia. Will surely make use of his height and should exploit the bouncy conditions.

Smith- There will be a lot of pressure on the Aussie skipper, but he is likely to prevail given his stunning numbers in this format.

Root- Is the best batsman on show for the tourists and will be keen to repair his not-so-great record in Australia.

Starc- He is back and will be leading the Aussie pace attack. His swing along with pace will make life difficult for the English. Dangerous to drop him.
