Cheteshwar Pujara makes a new record; becomes eighth batsman to achieve the feat

INDIA BATSMAN Cheteshwar Pujara joined an elite list of players after batting on all five days in the first Test against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens.

Pujara is the third Indian to achieve the rare feat after ML Jaisimha and current India head coach Ravi Shastri. Interestingly, Jaisimha achieved the feat in 1960 while Shastri did it in 1984. Also surprisingly, all three records have come at the Kolkata stadium.

The Saurashtra-lad is the eighth batsman to strike such a record in the Test format. The list of players is mentioned below:

1. ML Jaisimha (India)
2. Geoffrey Boycott (England)
3. Kim Hughes (Australia)
4. Allan Lamb (England)
5. Ravi Shastri (India)
6. Adrian Griffith (West Indies)
7. Andrew Flintoff (England)
8. Cheteshwar Pujara (India)
