ISL 2017: Ten men Jamshedpur FC play out a goalless draw with NorthEast United FC

DEBUTANTS Jamshedpur FC earn their first point of the season with a goalless draw against NorthEast United FC away from home. The away team can complain of the direct red card against their player, Bikey as a controversial moment.

The first half saw some casually passes and silly mistakes by both sides as they played their first competitive game of the new season. The first half-chance fell to Goncalves as he leaped in the box to head a cross but was disrupted by some tugging. About twenty minutes in the game, Doungel attempted a header, it was on target but was an easy catch for Subrata.

By half hour, the home side had managed to keep the ball very well and enjoyed a big share of the possession. The last action of the first half saw Jamshedpur FC attack on the counter. Izu Azaka was played in from the left flank. He shot the ball but did not get hold of the shot. He played it square in the box and the resulting shot was straight at TP Rehenesh who put it away with his leg. The half ended goalless.

After the start of the second half, the home team continued to press for a goal and had a free kick awarded just outside the box Marcinho took it but could not even beat the wall. Shortly after that Subrata made a good save to deny NorthEast United their first goal. The cross from the right almost turned into a shot and was sneaking into the near post but an alert Subrata made a good save but injured himself in the process.

Subrata was called into action again as he denied Marcinhos low curling effort with a firm palm to the stop the shot. Marcinho was turning on the heat as his header was pin point accurate but only the upright to deny him a goal.

Both teams made a host of changes via substitutions. Among the constant pressing by the home side, a missed clearance almost ended in an own goal. Soon after came a controversial moment. Bikey who had come on a couple of minutes back stretched his leg to bring down the ball and caught a Northeast player. Referee saw this a dangerous play and flashed a red card to Bikey. NorthEast United came out with full confidence but were not lethal in the final third. The remaining time Jamshedpur spent time defending in their own half. Doutie come close to causing a threat but his effort did not find the target from the top of the box. Narzary who came as a second half substitute, create a moment of magic as he cut in from the right and shot with his laces to narrowly miss the far top corner. Narzary turned assister as he laid up a ball in the box for another substitute Paez, the latter skied his shot wasting the last chance to score. Goalless it finished in the end as poor finishing and good saves from both keepers especially Subrata gave both side a clean sheet.
