ISL 2017: COACH CONTROL – Jamshedpur FC – Coppell's ISL experience to be handy

2017-18 SEASON WILL be a fresh start in a brand new edition of the Indian Super League for Jamshedpur FC. They have got their preparations right by getting in the coaching staff that is well aware of the working of the Indian football.

Jamshedpur FC roped in Steve Coppell and Ishfaq Ahmed as head coach and assistant coach respectively. Steve and Ishfaq, of course were at Kerala Blasters FC together in same positions, Ishfaq donning the players responsibility as well.

ISL 2017: Jamshedpur FC with Steve Coppell and Isfaq Ahmed is a promising duo at the team

The partnership duo was an obvious choice for Jamshedpur as both had developed a great understanding of football and ISL.

What followed after their appointment is a natural phenomenon whenever a coach moves from one team to another. The preferred players who played under Coppell for Kerala Blasters last season were signed by Jamshedpur. It makes the task of setting up the core of the team easy having players who have been seen, tried and tested in the past.

The 2017 ISL Players draft was where Jamshedpur made all Indian signings from for the very first time. Anas one of the highest priced players in the Draft was taken in by the newest franchise in ISL.  Along with Anas, there is Ashim Biswas who has played a lot of football in the past. It is not just experience that Coppell is banking on. Looking at the young guns of the team, it gives one an idea that the team will play a brand of football that will be refreshing.

Take for example, 20 year old Jerry played for DSK Shivajians in the I-League last season. Being short in stature, Jerry makes up for it by his blistering speed on the ball. A regular pick in the national Under-23 team Jerry uses his pace and ability to dribble past defences. Then there 21 year old Farukh Choudhary who makes their first appearance in the ISL and can play on wings and forward line as well.

In the foreign department, Kervans Belfort is well known by Coppell having played under him last season. He will add great pace to the team up front. Tiri, Matheus Goncalves, Memo and Sameehg Doutie are familiar ISL names who promise to get the team going from the very beginning.

No team would be complete will a commander-in-chief in the various positions therefore Coppell has the ever-reliable Subratra Paul in goal and Mehtab Hossain in mid of the pitch. The team under Coppell sure does give a feeling of expecting being complete from all angles. If only the same can be seen delivering the goods will be a challenge in the franchise's maiden ISL season.
