Sports For All announces its Championship Fund for Mumbai’s TOP 10 Sporting Schools

SPORTS FOR ALL (SFA), India's Premier Institutional Sporting System for the grassroots level of sports, has established a fund totalling Rs. 10 lakh to reward the sporting feats of the 10 best performing schools in its 3rd edition of the multi-disciplinary Mumbai Sporting Championship which will be held in Dec 2017.

From its first edition in 2015, Sports For All had been incepted keeping in mind a single purpose – that is to unearth talent from the roots across the country, give them a holistic future ready sports platform & empower the future champions in their quest for sporting excellence. Hence the championship fund, which has been introduced by SFA for the first time, has been devised to help the deserving schools to develop better sports infrastructure in their premises, hire new and skilled coaches and invest in the latest sporting equipment for their athletes.

SFA, India’s largest youth championship has truly made its mark after having successfully conducted their first two seasons of the championship in the city of Mumbai. They have now set their first step outside the city and launched their maiden edition in Hyderabad thereby providing this aspirational platform to many more youth of the country. The announcement of foraying to a new city has added a new vigour in the school sports fraternity of Hyderabad.

SFA Founder Rishikesh Joshi said,

“Non-conducive sporting environment and grounds, inadequate infrastructure, inadequate safety and security measures, obsolete and old fashioned administrative processes, no proper records maintenance are reasons compelling enough for our youth to shy away from sport. We at SFA have taken this conscious decision to engage with the schools and aid them in a manner so as to make sport an indispensable part of their curriculum. At the same time we’re hoping to tap the vast sporting talent that exists in India and discover the country’s future Olympians. Establishing a championship fund that can help schools set up better infrastructure, hire competent coaches and invest in cutting edge sporting equipment is only the next logical step toward realising our vision of harnessing the power of sport to transform lives as well as unearth the country’s future Olympic stars.”

Modelled along the lines of the Olympic Games, the student contingent competing in the Championship Event will battle it out across 23 sporting disciplines such as basketball, football, handball, hockey, archery, fencing and kabaddi, amongst others and lead their school to get a deserving chance of earning and winning the coveted championship fund.

The Championship makes use of Olympic-grade infrastructure and equipment and provides a level playing field, cutting across socio-economic lines, to all competitors regardless of which school or college they belong to.

The initiative has drawn participation from over 600+ schools over the last two years. A total of 650 schools expected to field a combined contingent of nearly 35,000 students have already registered for both the Hyderabad and Mumbai legs of this year’s edition so far.
