THE OUTING AT THE WMMA Championship proved to be a learning experience for the Indian team.
A major positive from the campaign came in the form of a bronze medal for female strawweight star Akshata Khadtare. Akshata lost her quarterfinal fight against the eventual gold medallist Lin He Qin of China. She finished third alongside Zarina Kadyrbaeva of Kazakhstan.
Elsewhere, the other Indian fighters suffered losses in their respective fights despite a strong showing.
Rodrigues Alroy, Navdeep Aggarwal, Manthan Rane, Zamir Mohammed, Vishal Nimbalkar, and Rohit Nair were the other Indian fighters that participated in the event and delivered a solid performance even though the results did not go their way.
