Mumbai to play Ranji Trophy opener without the services of Rahane

CHIEF SELECTOR of Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy team, Ajit Agarkar, has stated that Ajinkya Rahane will miss the team’s opening fixture against Madhya Pradesh.

The former India seamer told TOI that the elegant batsman informed about his unavailability.

“He’s informed us that he’s unavailable for selection for this game.”

Sources have reported that Rahane’s decision to holiday in Seychelles and miss out on Ranji games has left MCA disappointed.

Apart from Rahane, Mumbai will miss the services of key players like Shreyas Iyer, Prithivi Shaw and Dhawal Kulkarni, all of whom are set to feature in the India A side.

Mumbai will lock horns with Madhya Pradesh starting October 17.
