RYNTIH SC SHOOK OFF their second round loss to climb to the top of the Shillong Premier League points table today.
Taking on bottom-placed Mawkhar SC, Ryntih passed the test with flying colours, registering a 3-1 victory and tying Mawlai SC on the table with 6 points. But although Ryntih have played an extra game, they have achieved the peak due to scoring more goals.
The first half of the match was a tight affair with neither team finding a breakthrough. But soon after the match resumed, Bickyson Kharkongor scored for Ryntih. And just before the hour mark, he doubled the lead.
But just a couple of minutes later, Banehskhem Khongsdam pulled a goal back for Mawkhar. And although they tried hard to get even, their fight ended when Hardy Cliff Nongbri, who had also scored against Malki SC in the first round, struck the net again in added time, sealing the victory.
Although Mawkhar had an improved showing in this game, they remain the only club in SPL 2022 who are yet to earn a point. They will get a chance to change that when they take on Nangkiew Irat SC on 5th July. And the very next day, Ryntih will be back with a blockbuster clash; taking on Shillong Lajong.
