A local boy who grew up in Dushanbe, the 29 year old attacking medio Vasiev is one of the best in the FC Istiklol squad when it comes to international experience.
Once breaking into the senior domestic league through his spell with local club Hima Dushanbe, Vasiev got a chance to play abroad. He was signed by Armenian Premier League club Mika Yerevan in 2008. The spell didn't last long even though he made a handful of league appearances for them. He came back to his hometown and after a few months with Energetik Dushanbe, found his home with FC Istiklol in 2009. He has been with the club since then.
It's at Istiklol that his career soared. He had already broken into the national team but soon, coupled with his domestic success, he became a regular for Tajikistan. Last year, he had a long struggle with a torn ligament, but throughout this year he has worked hard to re-establish himself in the Istiklol squad. He will not let go of any chance to put on a memorable performance against Bengaluru FC in the AFC Cup.
