Japan SS: Sindhu vs Okhuara & Saina vs Carolina to face-off in RD 2

AFTER THE success at World Badminton Championships and clinching the Korea Super Series, once again PV Sindhu will be in the limelight as she now gears up for Japan Super Series.

Sindhu will be high on confidence and with all the attention, she will be under pressure to perform. Consistency is something that she needs to fight and if that is taken care then Sindhu is unstoppable. She is currently undergoing what Kidambi Srikanth experienced few months ago.

Seeded 4th in Japan, she faces Minatsu Mitani in the opening round. Here once again a clash against Nozomi Okuhara is possible but at an early stage and that is second round. If things go well, an all-Indian semi-final clash is on cards.

Saina Nehwal who skipped Korea SS, returns to court in Japan. Her first round opponent is Pornpawee Chochuwong. Saina too faces challenging opponent in round two in 5th seed Carolina Marin.

In men's singles category, Srikanth is seeded 8th and begins his campaign against Tian Houwei. Srikanth too withdrew from Korea and makes a comeback in Japan. He too will be in the limelight among the men's singles shuttlers.

The others include Sourabh Verma, he begins his campaign against 7th seed Lin Dan; Sai Praneeth's first round opponent is yet to be decided. Praneeth was ousted in round two at Korea SS.

HS Prannoy too ended his campaign in Korea at an early stage (round one). He will be up against Anders Antonsen in round one in Japan. Sameer Verma's opponent yet to be decided.

In women's and mixed doubles there are one Indian pair each participating. Ashwini Ponnappa along with Sikki Reddy begins their campaign against 3rd seeds Chang Ye Na/Lee So Hee. While Sikki pairs up with Pranaav Jerry Chopra to face Tomoya/Rie Etoh in the opening round.
