Shikhar Dhawan to miss first 3 ODIs against Australia

INDIA OPENER Shikhar Dhawan will not feature in the first three ODIs against Australia due to his wife’s illness. The BCCI confirmed that it had granted release as per the southpaw’s request.

The board decided not to name any replacement for the Dhawan. The BCCI stated in its release,

"Team India opener Mr Shikhar Dhawan has requested to be released from the team for the first three ODIs of the Paytm Australia tour of India, 2017 to attend to his wife, who is unwell. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has decided not to name any replacement for Mr Dhawan in Indian Cricket Team.”

Prior to this, Dhawan had missed the final ODI and the one-off T20 against Sri Lanka as he had come back to India to see his ailing mother.

Meanwhile, Aussie opener Aaron Finch is unlikely to feature in the first ODI at Chennai, after aggravating his right calf injury during a net session. Sources have reported that either of Travis Head or Hilton Cartwright may open for Australia in case Finch is ruled out of the game.
