Shastri requests BCCI to provide players some time to recuperate

TEAM INDIA HEAD COACH Ravi Shastri has requested the BCCI to provide adequate breaks for the players and the staff while scheduling international matches.

As reported by PTI, Shastri proposed the idea to Committee of Administrators (CoA) and BCCI chief Rahul Johri, during a video conference. The former team India director said,

“Such tight scheduling gives the players little time to recuperate.”

Virat Kohli’s men have returned home after whitewashing Sri Lanka 9-0 in a tour that featured all three formats of the game. Interestingly, the team will soon hit the ground to prepare for a home series against Australia, starting next week. India will play five ODIs and three T20s against them. A senior BCCI official working close to the development, further divulged.

“The international calendar is so tight these days and it’s not only the matches that take a toll on players’ body, but the long flights and travelling. Shastri has requested us to look into it, as he believes it would help players to recover faster. England and Australia give enough gaps between series and the BCCI too should have a plan where players can get a decent break and recover better. Otherwise, everyone is happy with the way how BCCI is taking care of its players.”
