The two teams will face each other for the first time in Pro Kabaddi in the opening game of the Sonepat leg. Ahead of this match, the Haryana Steelers have won two back-to-back matches against Gujarat Fortunegiants and Bengal Warriors. They are placed third in the Zone A points table after having won five, lost two and drawn two of their nine matches. 

The Patna Pirates are going into this game after crushing Manjeet Chhillar, Jasvir Singh-less Jaipur Pink Panthers 47-21 in Kolkata. Out of nine games this season, the Pardeep Narwal-led side has won five, lost two and drawn two.

Haryana Steelers replaced cover defender Neeraj Kumar with all-rounder Parmod Narwal. Although the latter took home no points he is likely to be played again. The Steelers are unlikely to make any changes to their raiding department. 

The Patna Pirates played Virender Singh in place of Satish in the right corner and the latter wasn’t seen on the bench. We expect the Pirates to play the same formation. However, they could try Vikas Jaglan ahead of Vinod Kumar.

Pardeep Narwal: He has racked 115 points from nine games this season. Monu Goyat’s lethal raiding ability is an added advantage for Pardeep. The former has helped revive his skipper numerous times and is likely to continue to do so. 

Wazir Singh: The Haryana skipper has looked sharper after recuperating from his injury. He is likely to take charge every time Patna are reduced to two or three players on the mat. He has picked seven, nine and 11 points in his last three matches.
