We can experiment with our flexible batting order in the 5th ODI, says Kohli

FOLLOWING AN emphatic 168 run win against Sri Lanka in the fourth ODI at Colombo, India skipper Virat Kohli maintained that the youngsters in the squad will be given another opportunity in the fifth ODI.

Kohli stated that his batting order possesses flexibility and that they can still do some changes in the final 50-over game at Colombo. Speaking at the post match press conference, Kohli, who racked 131 off just 96 balls, said,

“We’ve given opportunities to three new guys. They will get another opportunity. Batting order is flexible and we can experiment depending on the situation of the game.”

After winning the toss, India elected to bat only to post a massive 375 for five courtesy of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s centuries. Sri Lanka were then bundled out for 207 runs in the 43rd over. Speaking about the performance, the prolific batsman said,

“We wanted to bat first because we hadn’t batted first in the three games. The wicket was amazing to bat on. It was a good toss to win, we put up a good score and it was very difficult for the opposition to maintain that required run rate.”
