SRIKANTH KIDAMBI went into the WBC 2017 as one of the favourites to come back with a medal has ended his campaign in the quarter-finals after losing to top seed Son Wan Ho 14-21, 18-21.

8th seed Srikanth couldn't complete the hat-trick of defeating the Korean, having done that twice in the past. The first game was an easy one for Son Wan while the second was a tough fight till the end.

Though Son Wan was leading 11-4 at the interval and then the Korean ran away with points, a lead of 16-5. While it was an easy encounter for 4th seed PV Sindhu who trumped Sun Yu 21-14, 21-9 to set up a clash against Chen Yufei in the semis.
