WBC 2017: Srikanth, Sameer, Satwik/Maneesh & others in RD 2

IT WAS A GOOD day for Indian shuttlers at the World Badminton Championships held in Glasgow. Star attraction for today was 8th seed Kidambi Srikanth who overcame Sergey Sirant with ease in straight games 21-13, 21-12. He will next face Lucas Corvee.

Young mixed doubles pair of Satwiksairaj/Maneesha K defeated Tam Chun Hei/Ng Tsz Yau 24-22, 21-17. They next play 14th seeds Mathias/Sara.

Prajakta Sawant along with her Malaysian partner Yogendran Khrishnan defeated Ching Yao/Chiang Kai 21-15, 13-21, 21-18. They next play Indian duo of Pranaav Jerry Chopra/Sikki Reddy.

Tanvi Lad too had a win over Chloe Birch 17-21, 21-10, 21-19. She next faces a tough opponent in Sung Ji Hyun.

Sanjana Santosh/Sara Sunil defeated Natalya/Zharka 21-15, 21-18. They next play 14th seeds Bao Yixin/ Yu Xiaohan.

Sameer Verma's opponent Pablo Abian withdrew from the match cause of an injury therefore the Indian cruised to the second round. The scores were 21-8, 17-4. His opponent will either be Rajiv Ouseph or Adam Mendrek.

Rituparna Das' opponent too withdrew just mintues into the match and therefore the Indian sails into round two. She next faces 16th seed Kristy Gilmour.
