Brave 8: Rise of champions – Major Talking points from the event
Brave Combat Federation made a huge revamp when it came to Brave 8: The Rise Of The Champions in Curitiba, Brazil. The second coming of the Bahrain based mixed martial arts promotion headlined by two title fights. The action packed fight night was stacked with knockouts, submissions, controversies and the presence of some of the legends of the sport.
The Rise of Champions
The event crowned two champions in the Light Heavyweight and Welterweight divisions respectively. The co-main event witnessed the rise of Carlson Harris as the face of the welterweight division of Brave.
Carlston not only fought five intense rounds but was successful against a stronger and prepared opponent with his smart strategy. The new welterweight champion became a quick favourite in Brazil after he embraced his supporters with his new found glory. The headliner brought a special impact not only to Abre but to all the Brazilians who were relieved that their champion delivered what he promised.
The avenging angel of Brazil lived to his word by submitting his opponent from Germany. Brazil could not be more proud about the fact that Klidson as he cemented his legacy as the first light heavyweight champion of Brave Combat Federation.

The event catered what fans from each department was looking for. 5 Technical Knockout’s , 3 Submissions and 4 long and hard fought battles gave the audience the most wanted visual experience. The intensity of the fights made the crowd engaged till the end of the event.
Wanderlei Silva, From The Streets Of Curitiba
Storming the event was one of the most entertaining MMA fighters of all time, Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer" Silva. Born and raised In Curitiba, Silva was an inspiration to many of the local fighters who took part at Brave 8. Having him as a special guest was an honour for the fighters and towards Brazil. Having an aggressive style rooted in street brawling, powered by numerous unbroken records and entertaining battles, Wanderlei Silva’s presence made everyone’s experience memorable.
Announced by the “The Answer"
Frankie Edgar alongside Cyrus Fees, engaged the audience in Curitiba. This was Edgar’s second appearance as a commentator in a Brave show and his expertise is surely an added benefit that is appreciated by all the fans watching.
Controversy
Olivera who slapped Frohlich during weigh ins was on the receiving end of a very hard right hand.
A barrage of punches knocked the mouth guard off from Oliveira, who immediately raised his hands to stop the fight and to get the mouth guard back. Referee did not notice the mouth guard having fell and signalled the match to be stopped as the fighter calling off a fight in between the rounds adds up to giving up the fight. Earlier on the card, Johnny Walker knocked out Rodrigo Jesus. Sometimes fighters, they recover quick and complain, was it a wrong call? Let's wait and see the Brave Fights coming up this week.
Major Announcements
Mohammed Shahid, President of Brave Combat Federation has hinted that he is looking forward to take Brave to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. Also during the event, intentions to hold an elaborate fight card which is dubbed as the big daddy of all fight nights in Asia had been leaked.
Brave Combat Federation is set to host its upcoming edition in Bahrain. The President of Brave was also hosted a key meeting with the officials of the football club Atlético Paranaense, in Brazil.
