FOREIGN ASSETS: Established international stars to propel teams in the expanded Pro Kabaddi season 5
THE FIFTH EDITION of the Pro Kabaddi League is all set to get underway on July 28. This season will be bigger than the previous seasons by a good margin as four new teams will be taking part in the 13-week long format.
The PKL-5 auction emerged as the most expensive auction ever, which saw a 10-time increase in the purse over the first season. The 12 franchises were allowed to spend a maximum of Rs 4 crore each during the bidding event. While players were slotted under eight categories, teams were asked to pick a minimum of two foreign players in their squads.
In the overseas department, there were as many as 10 Pakistani players ready to go under the hammer. However, owing to cross-border tensions, they couldn’t attract any bid. On the other hand, many players from all over Asia, as well as Africa, found a home amongst the 12 teams.
Leaving the home grown talent aside, we take a closer look at some of the biggest foreign players in Pro Kabaddi season 5, who shall look to propel their teams in the expanded league format.
