DABANG DELHI have appointed Iran International Meraj Sheykh as its captain for the upcoming Pro Kabaddi League season 5. Meraj had led the Delhi-side in 2016 and also had attracted retention from the franchise ahead of PKL-5 players’ auctions.
Speaking about the Dabang squad and its approach towards the 13-month long tournament, Meraj said,
"The team is looking good and we have young and fit players to last the longer season. We have skilled and experienced players in all departments and the young guns add depth to the Dabang squad. With utility players across the team, our aim is to be the team to watch this season."
Talking about the captain, head coach Ramesh Bhendigiri, said,
"Meraj Sheykh has been a strong asset to the team in the past seasons and I'm sure he will lead the team well again. He is a versatile player- one who raids like a fox and defends like a bull. He is extremely fit and skillful and with this new squad, I'm sure that he and the team will give all its fans reasons to cheer and rejoice through the league."
Meraj Sheykh’s men will take on Jaipur Pink Panthers in their first game of the PKL-5 on July 29 at Hyderabad.
