SILVER and BRONZE for Sharad Kumar and Varun Singh respectively on Day 9

In the Men's High Jump T42 category, Sharad Kumar and Varun Singh Bhati competed for two of the three medals in the event and bagged them both. The weather made conditions tough for the para-athletes as some found the track slippery while others saw the dip in temperature affecting the blood circulation in their limbs.

Battling all the hardships, both Indian athletes, who had given India two medals at the Rio paralympics 201, repeated the feat at the World Para Athletics Championships. Both athletes were happy for winning medals for their country, but at the same time felt that they could have given a better performance. With this, India’s medal tally has now reached five!
