THIRD MEDAL for India on Day 8 of the World Para Athletics Championships London

ADDING ANOTHER MEDAL to India's tally takes the number to three podium finishes.

The 8th day of the 2017 World Para Athletics Championships in London...another day full of excitement!
In the Women's Discus Throw F55 Final, India’s Karamjyoti Dalal threw her season’s best throw of 19.02
meters. Though she was initially declared fourth, Yang Liwan’s post-event disqualification resulted in Karam
Jyoti being deemed the bronze medallist...making her India’s third medal-winner of the competition.

this competition.

There was high drama in the Men's 200m T11 Final, as it initially seemed like France’s Timothée Adolphe had
won the race in a very close finish. But after a review, judges determined that Adolphe’s guide-runner hadn’t
dropped back far enough, and the Frenchman was disqualified. China’s Zetan Fan was thus declared the winner,
with a time of 23.28 seconds, while David Brown of the United States took silver.

In the Men's 400m T36 Final, 21-year-old Australian sensation James Turner won his second gold of the
competition, with a time of 54.27 seconds, a new area record. Turner had already set world records in the T36
200m heat and in the final before winning this race.

The Men's 100m T38 Final was also a thriller, coming down to a photo-finish between Australia’s Evan
O'Hanlon and China’s Jianwen Hu. In the end, both finished the race with a time of 11.07 seconds, but O’Hanlon
was declared the winner in a literal photo-finish.

But in the Men's 400m T13 Final, the race wasn’t very close. Morocco’s Mohamed Amguoun finished the race a
good 1.48 seconds ahead of his closest rival, Namibia’s Johannes Nambala. In the process, Amguoun set a new
world record, with a race time of 46.92 seconds.

On to Day 9...the penultimate day of the Championships. Indian fans can look forward to the possibility of medal
wins...with Deepa Malik in action in the Women’s Shot Put F53 Final...Sharad Kumar and Varun Singh Bhati in
the Men’s High Jump T42 final...and Ramkaran Singh in the Men’s 800m T13 final. Go for gold, India!
