USA GPG: Kashyap vs Sameer QF showdown & other results
MEN'S SINGLES shuttlers Parupalli Kashyap and Sameer Verma will clash against each other in the quarter-finals of US Grand Prix Gold.
Kashyap qualified to the quarters after his opponent Gergely Krausz retired hurt but the former was leading 21-18, 17-6. 5th seed Sameer had tough outing against Zvonimir Durkinjak, defeating him in three games 21-19, 25-27, 21-15.
These two last played in 2010 where Kashyap emerged the winner but since then a lot has changed so this battle would be rather interesting. A fight between a veteran and an upcoming shuttler.
The other shuttler in this category, HS Prannoy too advanced to the quarters beating Mark Caljouw 21-8, 14-21, 21-16 and the second seed will play 8th seed Japanese Kanta Tsuneyama next.
3rd seeds Manu Attri/Sumeeth Reddy advance ahead in the men's doubles category after a win against Hendra/Androw 21-16, 21-9. Will next play 7th seeds Hiroki Okamura/Masayuki Onodera.
Rituparna Das and Sri Krishna Priya ended their campaign in the pre-quarters. Women's doubles duo of Poorvisha Ram/Jakkampudi Meghana too ended their campaign and so did men's doubles duo of Francis Alwin/Kona Tarun. Attri/Maneesha too crashed out in the pre-quarters.
