Day 7 HIGHLIGHTS of World Para Athletics Championships London

AS THE CHAMPIONSHIPS turn a week old, Indian athletes were missing the action on the field and none were featured in the games on Day 7. For the fans, there was a lot to cheer as a few records were shattered in various events.

In the Men's Shot Put F40 Final, Iraqi athlete Garrah Tnaiash recorded his season’s best throw with his second attempt, taking gold with his 10.49 meter effort.

In the Men's Shot Put F55 Final, Bulgaria’s Ruzhdi Ruzhdi set a new world record, with a throw of 12.47 meters on his third attempt. His throw was 1.1 meters clear of his nearest challenger, Poland’s Lech Stoltman.

Britain’s Hannah Cockroft completed a hat-trick of gold medals in the Championships, with a superb showing in the Women's 400m T34 Final. She completed her race with a time of 58.29 seconds, a new competition record, and thus added to the 100m and 800m titles that she had already won.

Her compatriot Georgina Hermitage also broke a world record in her event, the Women's 400m T37 Final. Hermitage finished with a time of 1 minute 00.29 seconds to break the mark that she herself had set at Rio 2016.

The 32-year-old star finished the race with a championship record time of 1.44.79, while the UAE’s Mohamed Alhammadi finished second, and Britain’s own Isaac Towers bagged bronze.
