INDIAN ACES: U Mumba’s high-octane attack poses a serious threat in Pro Kabaddi season 5

THE U MUMBA are one of the most consistent sides in the Pro Kabaddi League. The Ronnie Screwvala owned Mumbai outfit finished as the runners up in the inaugural season, only to come back in the second edition and lift the PKL trophy. In season 3, the franchise finished at the top of the points table but were beaten by Patna Pirates in the finals. The fourth edition wasn’t memorable as they failed to qualify for the play-offs after finishing fifth.

Ahead of the season 5 auctions, U Mumba unsurprisingly retained India skipper Anup Kumar, to marshal their troop. The franchise built a strong attack around Anup by roping in quality Category A raiders like Kashiling Adake, Shabeer Bapu and Nitin Madane. With a total of Rs 3.98 lakh, the Mumbai-franchise remained as the biggest spenders in the players’ auction. Failing to acquire many experienced names in the defence, the Mumbai’s-rejigged team appears to primarily focus on its attack.

On the other hand, U Mumba is set to continue to benefit from the dynamic coaching duo of E. Bhaskaran and Ravi Shetty. Ahead of their upcoming campaign, let us take a look at some the Indian talent in their squad, who are likely to guide them to the play-offs.
