I-League top scorer Asier Dipanda to play for Mohun Bagan in the next season of the top division league

SHILLONG LAJONG STRIKER and top scorer of I-League 2016-17 Asier Pierrick Dipanda, who shocked the fans by signing for Mohammedan Sporting for the upcoming Calcutta Football League, has pulled off another surprise transfer already.

With 11 goals, former DSK Shivajians strier Dipanda had his best season in India yet, and he caught the attention of all the big clubs in the top division, along with the I-League golden boot. Which was why it came as a surprise when he signed a 3 month deal with Mohammedan Sporting, who currently ply their trade in the 2nd Division League. Dipanda's move to Mohammedan was a temporary one; he wanted his options open after the upcoming season of the Calcutta Football League.

And even before the ball has been set rolling in the CFL, Dipanda has already secured his next club. Mohun Bagan, who lost out on being Champions of India by 1 point to Aizawl FC, are already in the market securing quality players and they have reportedly agreed on a verbal contract with the Cameroonian forward. In November, Dipanda is expected to move to the Mariners.

With news of the agreement already out in local media, it will be interesting to see how the match between Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting shapes up in the upcoming edition of Calcutta Football League.

Dipanda's move to Mohun Bagan also continues the tradition of the Kolkata club poaching strikers from Shillong Lajong. In the past, they did the same with Cornell Glen.
