Visa Trouble: Sameer withdraws from Canada GP; Tarun/Alwin to know fate by evening

MEN'S SINGLES SHUTTLER Sameer Verma was all set to make a comeback at the Canada Grand Prix but fate didn't allow him to do so. He couldn't leave for Calgary along with other shuttlers as his visa did not arrive in time.

Late Saturday evening, he took to social media to state his reason for withdrawal from the tournament:

In an interview to Sportskeeda, doubles shuttler Tarun Kona stated that he and his partner Alwin Francis too are yet to receive the visas. But since the doubles action begin a day later they haven't officially withdrawn and are trying their best to reach their destination before the tournament begins.

TFG spoke to Alwin Francis,

"Today by 4pm we will know if we'll play in Canada or not. Hopefully visa arrives and we can leave for the tournament."

Shuttlers have been facing these issues in the past as HS Prannoy, Sikki Reddy had to go through a tough process, pleading those in authority via social media to get their visas in time.
