The drought conditions have been worse in regions such as Vidarbha and Marathwada, where helpless farmers are being forced to commit suicides. The chief minister thanked Rahane, and announced that the money will be used in the state’s Jal Yukt Shivar Abhiyan, whose aim is to make Maharashtra a drought-free state by 2019.
The Mumbai batsman has recently returned from a successful Test series in Sri Lanka, where he became the first cricketer in history to claim 8 catches in a Test, and also scored a splendid century in his newest batting position, No.3.
