#TFGinterview: The Fight against Yao will be a learning Experience – In Conversation with Farhan Siddique

INDIAN MMA FIGHTER FARHAN SIDDIQUE will face the biggest challenge of his career at the upcoming CKF International Fighting Jishou.

When he steps into the cage at the event, he will have to stand toe to toe with Chinese veteran Honggang ‘The Master’ Yao, who is currently riding a nine-fight winning streak. 

Farhan Siddique:  First of all, it’s a proud feeling for me to fight against him who has won his past 9 fights and by fighting him it will turn out to be a good learning experience.

Farhan heads into the fight on the back of a win at the India vs. Bahrain event which was held last year. During the one-year break he took, Farhan has been busy with his Team Dheeth and even spent some time in Evolution MMA to improve his skill.

Farhan Siddique: I’m working on my skills, Ground BJJ skills especially, which most of the Indian fighters don't have. Mental fitness also, I’m not taking too much of stress even though it’s a very big opportunity for me.                       

Along with his newly acquired skills, Farhan has a 10-centimeter height advantage over Yao. But the Mumbai-based fighter feels that the numbers will barely come to play.  

Farhan Siddique: Yes, certainly height will be an advantage for me but in MMA, skills matter the most. And the age, age is not a barrier in the sport.

When asked about his message to the fans ahead of the fight, Farhan had the following to say.

Farhan Siddique: The only one expectation of my fans is to see me winning. I AM DHEETH.

Farhan (4-2) will go up against Yao (19-5) on July 7, 2017, in Beijing while his teammate Swapnil Barve will face the younger brother of Honggang.
